GoodReads Review:
Sixteen-year-old Amal makes the decision to start wearing the hijab, the Muslim head scarf, full- time and everyone has a reaction. Her parents, her teachers, her friends, people on the street. But she stands by her decision to embrace her faith and all that it is, even if it does make her a little different from everyone else. Can she handle the taunts of "nappy head," the prejudice of her classmates, and still attract the cutest boy in school? Brilliantly funny and poignant, Randa Abdel-Fattah's debut novel will strike a chord in all teenage readers, no matter what their beliefs.

I said:
Amal pictures a young woman struggling for her roots and beliefs. wearing veil while living in Australia with all the stupid rumors that islam is a violent religions thanks to the 11th September incident. her niah of wearing veil full time has changed her perspective on life and here we can see how this book portrait the different treatment of women in Islam. i mean, who in their right mind want to have their daughter married in the age of 16? Amal, being brought up to stand up for herself, to believe in education as a means to achieve independence, totally oppose to Laila's mom believes that women should be married early and that their place in only at the kitchen.
this book should be read all across the globe so that people will realize that islam is not violent nor injustice to women.

though, some part of the book do really make me bored and certainly made me felt like just reading the end.

but hey, buying this book at only RM8 (mind you it is a new book, not second hand book) surely worth it! but i doubt im going to buy it if it is not RM8.
